The gear

The orange lamp on my DJ stand gets asked about all the time. Here it is, with the rest of the room: the decks, the camera, the lights and the headphones in every Sunday set.

    Artemide Nessino, orange

Giancarlo Mattioli's 1967 mushroom lamp in its small polycarbonate version.

    Lumens, US
  2. 02

    Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3

The decks. I invested in the XDJ and have been very happy with it: great to practise on if you are working towards CDJs, and it gets the laptop out of the picture. Every Sunday set is mixed on this.

    Canon EOS R6 Mark II

The camera. Worth it if you are serious about photo and video: easy to use, good light control, and plenty of tutorials on YouTube. Linked as the kit with the 24-105 lens, which is what I bought, so you get the whole package.

    Neewer FS150B

The main light, a bi-colour COB, colour set to 4200K for a warm, evening feel.

Godox 30 x 90 strip softbox, with grid

Keeps the light on me and off the wall.

  6. 06

    Octagonal softbox, with grid

Softer and rounder than the strip, for a different mood.

  7. 07

    Sennheiser HD 25

The classic DJ pair since 1988. Every part can be replaced, and they sound great.

The warm disc of light on the wall.
